Am avut curiozitatea de a încerca să aflu şi opinia istoricului Larry L. Watts în legătură cu posibilitatea ca încercarea de alungare a Patriarhului Teoctist (pomenită în articolul anterior) să fie o comandă moscovită. L-am contactat pe blogul dânsului unde am avut onoarea de a primi un răspuns, din care vă prezint mai întâi traducerea, apoi textul în original:
- Mr Watts, what did you think about the phrase: "Section 3... To neutralize the aims of the Patriarchy of Objective 24" as it is write in the document 116501 who you translated for Wilson Center? Is the try to banned Patriarch Teoctist in january 1990 tied with the KGB directive?ReplyDelete

The full sentence is: "To neutralize the aims of the Patriarchy of Objective 24 of influencing the clerics in a pro-Romanian nationalist spirit." That suggests to me that Teoctist was reaching out to Moldovan brethren in the Soviet-controlled church of the MSSR and that Moscow saw it as reinforcing Romanian (i.e. pro-"Latinsky" and anti-Soviet) identity. That would not have endeared Teoctist to the KGB or the Kremlin.Reply
